Children’s Health Services
Newborn Care
When obstetrical or midwifery care is completed at 6 weeks postpartum,
your newborn’s care may be transferred to a Village Health Clinic
physician for follow-up care, which includes scheduled Well-Baby Exams
(see below). In addition, any newborn concerns such as acute infections
(ear, respiratory, thrush), umbilical cord infections, breastfeeding
problems, colic, vomiting, etc, can be treated by one of our physicians.
Well-Baby/Child Exams
The growth and development of your child is routinely monitored at scheduled
Well Baby/Child Exams. Typically infants and children are seen at every
3 months from 6 weeks until 2 years of age to check weight, height,
head circumference, dietary intake, and gross motor, fine motor, and
mental-cognitive development. Discussions around breastfeeding and
food introduction focus on allergy prevention as well as optimal caloric
nutrient intake. Special diets such as vegetarian and vegan diets can
be assessed & modified to meet the needs of your growing child.
Homeopathic Immunization options
Although not well studied in the research literature, many parents opt
for the use of homeopathic medicines as an alternative to pharmaceutical
immunizations. In addition, immune-boosting protocols are available
to enhance the beneficial effects of either type of immunization. Education
about vaccinations can occur during visits so that parents may make
informed decisions regarding immunization – whether pharmaceutical
or homeopathic. Ask your Village Health Clinic physician about vaccinations.
Natural Healing for Children
As family care practitioners, Naturopathic physicians can address the
majority of your child’s health care needs, from diet & allergies
(food, eczema, environmental) to acute infections.
Naturopathic First Aid Kits
A First Aid Kit is available for purchase as a first line defense against
common childhood ailments.
